The architectural style of the project is based on the typology of large citizens’ houses. Five main buildings are of contemporary architecture, while remaining in keeping with local architectural typologies. The framework is made of solid CLT (cross-laminated timber), consisting of 681 pieces assembled on site. The light beige rendered cladding is sometimes complemented by facade elements with a natural wood finish. A planted hedge around the entire periphery of the facades helps to preserve the privacy of the garden flats.
The project fits in perfectly with the new eco-neighbourhood, in particular through the choice of wood, which enabled the building site to be completed in a minimum of time. The Quai de la Borde residence is the largest solid wood building in Europe.
