Overview

Programme :
Facade renovation and interior fit-out of MEDEF's headquarters, including design of custom furniture.

Description :
A building from the 1950s was chosen to accommodate the MEDEF premises. Major renovation that respected the original style of the building was, however, essential. The proposed renovation focused on supporting the superstructure; the altered facade consists of a clear and straightforward three-part composition. Particular attention was paid to security: anti-theft glass, anti-vandal screens, dual access, and centralised position of the reception desk. The opening up of the base by tall, double-height bays reflects, on the first two levels, the importance of the spaces dedicated to communication and exchanges with partners and members of MEDEF. A cornice cleanly defines the support to the main building and its underside is illuminated at night so as to reinforce the horizontality. The glass used filters the light.
From the second to the fifth level, the existing square windows of the main building were retained; they symbolise the activity of workspaces. As those of the base, the bays are fitted with bronze-toned hammered brass frames. On the sixth and seventh floors, horizontal glazed bands offer wide openings onto the urban landscape. As for the top floor, large recessed windows create a terrace that define a higher spatial quality for the president's dining room. The ground floor is the main floor of the building. A large foyer is laid out over double height along Avenue Bosquet to manage the flow of personnel and visitors.
In the central part, the auditorium, clad in bronze-toned metal, communicates directly with this space. The interior architecture of the hall is marked by the stone facade that returns into the interior; the columns are clad with the same limestone, while the light oak floor gives more warmth to this place of passage.
