Inauguration of the exhibition Jean Lurçat at the Galerie des Gobelins in Paris

Wilmotte & Associés - Inauguration of the exhibition Jean Lurçat at the Galerie des Gobelins in Paris

A new exhibition dedicated to the French artist Jean Lurçat has been inaugurated on Tuesday 3 May 2016 at the Galerie des Gobelins in Paris.

Set up for the 50th anniversary of the artist death (1892-1966), it is the first exhibition in Paris dedicated to him since 1958, in the Museum of Modern Art.

With its scenography entrusted to Jean-Michel Wilmotte, it unveils the various aspects of the Jean Lurçat carreer, leader of a movement gathering around him many artists and playing a major role in the History of Art and in the rebirth of the tapestry in the twentieth century.

This great exhibition will be also an opportunity to rediscover a unique painter, very successful in Europe and in the US during the interwar period.
